Terms of Use

Last updated: July 15, 2026 · Applies to the MyBattleBuddy Closed Beta

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the agreement between you and the operator of MyBattleBuddy. Please read them, especially the sections on what the service is not (2), the crisis limitations and the fact that we cannot guarantee a message is delivered (9), and the disclaimers and limitation of liability (13 and 14). By creating an account, joining as a battle buddy, or otherwise using MyBattleBuddy, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who can use MyBattleBuddy

MyBattleBuddy is offered by [LEGAL ENTITY - to be confirmed with counsel] for United States veterans and the supporters they invite. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. By using it, you confirm that you are 18 or older, that the information you provide is accurate, and that you will keep it up to date. If you use the service on behalf of yourself as a veteran, or accept a role as a battle buddy, these Terms apply to you.

2. What MyBattleBuddy is, and is not

MyBattleBuddy is a support companion for veterans: an AI buddy for daily check-ins, medication organization and reminders, a personal Action Plan (safety plan), and a consented network of people you choose ("Battle Buddies") who can be alerted when it matters.

MyBattleBuddy is NOT a crisis service, an emergency service, a medical device, a healthcare provider, a therapist, or a substitute for professional care. It is a bridge to humans. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For veteran crisis support, dial 988 then Press 1, or text 838255.

The service does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical, mental-health, legal, or benefits advice, and it never claims to keep you safe or to be emergency care. It is designed to connect you to real people and real resources.

3. The Battle Buddy Pact

What you tell your Buddy is private, with one exception you agree to at signup: if the system believes your life may be in danger, it will help connect you to a real human and alert the battle buddies you chose. That is the pact.

If you accept a role as a battle buddy, you agree to receive these alerts at the contact details the veteran provided, and you understand the alert is a request to reach out, not a medical instruction.

4. Your account and security

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use MyBattleBuddy lawfully, for yourself, and not to:

6. Medication information

Medication schedules, reminders, refill estimates, photo reading, and any interaction notes are organizational aids, not medical advice. Always follow your prescriber and pharmacist. You review and approve every extracted item before it is saved; nothing enters your medication list without your explicit approval. Verify every detail. Any interaction note is a prompt to ask your pharmacist, never a clinical directive.

7. Artificial intelligence

The Buddy companion, chat, voice, photo reading, and risk-awareness features use artificial intelligence, provided through Google's Gemini API. AI can be wrong. See the AI section of our Privacy Policy for what is processed and how. Never rely on the AI as your only source for medical, legal, or safety decisions.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. By using MyBattleBuddy you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

9. Crisis features, and no guarantee of delivery

The crisis handoff is built to keep working until a real person acknowledges. But no software can promise that outcome, and we do not.

Crisis-support features are never placed behind a paywall. That is a permanent commitment.

10. Beta status

MyBattleBuddy is a closed beta, provided free of charge under an access code. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. We provide the beta so we can learn and improve it with a veteran advisory board and a clinical safety advisor. We may add, change, or discontinue features during the beta.

11. Third-party services

MyBattleBuddy relies on third-party providers (for example Google, Twilio, phone carriers, and, only if you connect it, the VA prescription API). Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, outages, or failures. Your use of a connected service, such as linking a VA prescription list, is subject to your consent and that provider's rules.

12. Your content and our rights

You keep ownership of the content you create in MyBattleBuddy, including your messages, check-ins, safety plan, and uploads. You grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to operate and improve the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the product without obligation to you. The MyBattleBuddy name, logo, and software are ours, and these Terms do not give you any right to use them beyond using the service.

13. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any alert, reminder, or message will be delivered or acted upon. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyBattleBuddy and [LEGAL ENTITY - to be confirmed with counsel], and their operators, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a message not being delivered, seen, or acted upon, from reliance on the AI, or from the acts or availability of your battle buddies or any third party, even if we were advised such damages were possible. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed [LIABILITY CAP - amount/formula to be confirmed with counsel].

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where the law does not allow such a limit. Because a human is always the safety net, you agree not to rely on MyBattleBuddy as your only means of getting help in an emergency.

15. Suspension and termination

You may stop using MyBattleBuddy at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or put others at risk, or if we need to protect the service or comply with the law. If we end your access, the crisis resources referenced here (911, 988, and the Veterans Crisis Line) remain freely available to you from any phone. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example 12 through 17) will continue to apply.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [JURISDICTION - Delaware or the founder's home state, to be confirmed with counsel], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where a mandatory consumer-protection law of your home state provides otherwise.

17. Dispute resolution

We would rather solve any problem directly, so please contact us first at support@mybattlebuddy.ai and give us a chance to make it right. The formal process for resolving disputes, including whether disputes are handled in court or by arbitration, the venue, and any related terms, is [DISPUTE RESOLUTION - to be confirmed with counsel]. Nothing here prevents you from contacting a regulator or exercising a right that the law does not allow us to waive.

18. Changes to these Terms, and how to reach us

We may update these Terms as the product grows. If a change is material, we will notify account holders and update the date at the top. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Questions: support@mybattlebuddy.ai.
